The neighborhood

Stacy’s place is located in Galveston, Texas, United States.

The historic “Silk Stocking District” is a nationally recognized historic district. Called the Silk Stocking district because the wealthiest of residents that lived here could afford silk stockings. It’s 6 blocks of gorgeous homes from the 1800’s. You must take a walk or drive and enjoy the view. All parades run one block over on 25th street. Also carriage rides drive right by the house sometimes and you can see them from the windows both upstairs and and downstairs. Walk out on the balcony upstairs and to see the houses and our front gardens.

Getting around

Galveston now has covered buss stops on the Seawall and one block over is the main thoroughfare on 25th street that runs to the historic Pleasure Pier and the beach or to the Historic Strand District if you go right. The Train station is also down on 25th and The Strand. Moody Gardens and Schlitterban are 2.5 miles from the house. You will take a right onto 61st street when you arrive to the island on Broadway. The Historic Grand Opera House is just on the other side of Broadway from our home. If you want to see a show or a concert book in advance because they get busy. The strand has restraints and shops for finding something special to take home. La Kings is a huge candy/ice cream/coffee store and they maker old fashioned malts. If you take 24th street to Harborside and go right there is the Fisherman’s Warf restraint, Willie G’s and The Olympic grill. You can see dolphins in the harbor, its so cool watching them!! There are all sorts of museums on the island. The Bryan museum is walking distance from the house. It’s worth the visit. Murdoch’s is down 23rd street on the Seawall.

This home is clean, fully-stocked, and has a lot of character, just as in the photos. Our stay involved a lot of cooking so we were pleased to see a solid kitchen setup with almost all the accessories, appliances, etc. that you might need. Lots of knick-knacks that we had to move out of the way to make space for meal prep and group dining, but otherwise, the space was more than sufficient.

I would highly recommend staying at this home. If you are looking for a place that is near the strand or the beach... this is the place. This is a beautiful historic home in the Galveston historic district. The interior is amazing, beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of space. I would stay here again without hesitation.
